Ms. Bucknum has extensive, diverse experience across the public sector, land development, homeowner and other associations, financial and budgetary management, and Department of Real Estate (DRE) document management and processes.
Ms. Bucknum currently serves as Vice President, drawing on her private and public sector leadership in municipal governance, housing policy, and regional infrastructure planning. She guides clients through strategic planning, community outreach, and complex regulatory environments to achieve meaningful solutions.
Before joining the leadership team at CP&A, Ms. Bucknum led the HOA/DRE/Association Division at Murow Development Consultants, a Crede company, serving the needs of developing and established residential and commercial associations and developments. She supported developers and builders through DRE budget development, document management and processing, HOA board declarant services, and HOA phase-turnover coordination.
Previously, Ms. Bucknum served as Vice President of Business Development and Developer Relations for the Southern California region of a large property management company. She oversaw and executed a comprehensive business development strategy and advised on project entitlements, staffing and amenity needs, and best management practices for existing and newly developing HOA communities. Earlier, as Governmental and Public Affairs Manager onsite at Laguna Woods Village, formerly Leisure World, she managed governmental, public, and media communications, including the community’s complete rebranding. Her background also includes contracts administration and extensive community-association financial experience in budgeting, long-range capital and operational planning, and amenity, facility, and staffing analysis.
Ms. Bucknum has extensive public-service experience. She has served on the Mission Viejo City Council since November 2014 and currently serves as mayor of the City of Mission Viejo. She is also a commissioner and chair of the Orange County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO). At the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), she serves on the Executive Committee, Legislative Committee, and Community, Economic and Human Development Committee, and previously served on the Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) Subcommittee. Her prior regional service includes chairing the Orange County Council of Governments (OCCOG) and serving on the Association of California Cities–Orange County Board. Before joining the City Council, she served for four years as a Mission Viejo Community Services Commissioner.
Ms. Bucknum serves on the board of the Building Industry Association’s Orange County Chapter. She is a member and past president of the Orange County Regional Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and serves on the chapter’s Legislative Support Committee. She is also a delegate emeritus to the CAI California Legislative Action Committee, serves on CAI’s national Government and Public Affairs Committee, and chairs CAI’s Federal Legislative Action Committee.
