AC-NET Launches Clean Tech Business Plan Competition
$25,000 Grand Prize Competition Targets Local Energy & Water Innovators

ANAHEIM, CA – A new contest aimed at new technology entrepreneurs was kicked off at today’s Orange County Business Council’s Economic Forecast luncheon. The Clean Tech Business Plan Competition, sponsored by the Anaheim Center for New Energy Technologies (AC-NET), will award $25,000 to the company with the most promise. AC-NET is a collaborative partnership between the City of Anaheim and Cal State Fullerton.
President and Chief Executive of the Orange County Business Council Lucy Dunn launched the competition. The Clean Tech Business Plan Competition will give early stage entrepreneurs the opportunity to present their plan to prominent experts representing Southern California’s venture capital, water, and energy industries. The judges will select three winning candidates with the technology that best addresses regional energy and water challenges and demonstrates profit potential in today’s marketplace.
The competition will take place on April 15, 2009 at the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics on the Cal State Fullerton campus. As part of the competition process, business and engineering graduate students from Cal State Fullerton will be available as a resource to the semi-final candidates looking for assistance with their business proposal and presentation.
AC-NET was proposed by Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle in his 2008 State of the City Address. Pringle praised the competition, saying “The Clean Tech Business Plan Competition is a great way to kick off AC-NET’s efforts. We know that there are great ideas out there and, with a little help from AC-NET, those ideas can find the resources and help to come to market, creating new jobs and businesses in our region.”
